So uh this week I was very bad at journaling so it is definitely going to be on the short side haha. Most of the stuff in here is only because I have a picture of it or a vague idea that it happened hahaha. So bad.
Wednesday 2/23:
The temple was amazing as always. Like I said in my last email, we were told we had to move into a different room. We will now be living with two missionaries going to Germany! We spent all day talking to our fams, doing laundry, going to the gym, and moving. Busy busy busy day.
Temple pic :)
Thursday 2/24:
Today we taught kaden again! It literally went so well!!! I felt like I could joke around and be myself which was not something I could do earlier. There was a funny moment where Sestra Voigt mentioned that we had played volleyball at the gym so I took the opportunity to tell him that I got hit in the head four times today. So in my very very broken Slovene, I said, "Odbojka" (volleyball) pointed to my head "Mojo glavo" (my head) motioned a ball hitting my head "Boom!" held up four fingers "ŝtiri!" (four) "Boom ŝtiri!!!" It made him laugh which is very rare. Our lesson was right in the middle of dinner so we had to get dinner from a vending machine. I had a nutritious dinner of an orange, one peanut butter cliff bar, two cheese sticks, and a can of pringles. Yum.
The people that lived in the room before us left a stuffed animal llama in our room. We decided to hang it from the sprinkler system thingy. His name is Fernando and he spins around like a disco ball.
Friday 2/25:
Walked into morning class with a cute message from Keldon on the board (see pic below). Pomoč means help btw. It is one of the few Slovene words he remembers haha. Sestra Voigt and I were matching today. I have no clue what else happened today.
Saturday 2/26:
I can't remember if I mentioned this before but every morning before class Sestra Voigt and I came early so we could sit and chat with the Dutch Elders. It became a tradition very fast. Sadly they are leaving (one on Monday and the other on Tuesday) so we took our very first and very last selfie with them before class. We will miss our morning chat buddies.
We learned how to make a phone call in class with Sestra Tuckett. We also taught her a lesson about why bad things happen. This was such a cool moment because this was a topic that we had never really prepared for. In other lessons it is based on church information or testifying of the Book of Mormon. So it was so cool to see just how much I was able to share, testify, and give comfort about all in Slovene. What a chaotic night. Brat Kunzler was teaching and it is always a blast with him. At one point we confused the crap out of him so much that he literally had to sit down and put his head in his hands (see picture below).
We did a grammar review where he wrote down sentences in English and we had to translate them correctly with the right verb, vocab, sentence order, and casing. We tried to sneak a picture but I didn't realize my 10 second timer was on. We did successfully take another picture. We also had to throw a ball into the trash can to get extra points but literally none of us were able to do that hahahah.
Our successful picture
Sunday 2/27:
I was asked to speak in church today about faith in Jesus Christ and His Atoning Sacrifice. It was a really powerful talk that took me a while to prepare. If I had time I would write everything down in this email but I don't :( Email me if you want it though. It was a very spiritual and uplifting day today. Later on before bed Sestra Voigt and I wrestled while the German sisters in our room laughed at us. I won.
Monday 2/28:
Today we said goodbye to Sister Flaherty :( She was the one Polish sister missionary in our district. I literally love her more than anything. She has such a beautiful soul. She is going to do amazing in Poland. I will miss her SO much.
Goodbye to Sister Flaherty :(
I also said goodbye to my other college roomie Rachel :( She is going to KILL IT in Italy. I love her SO MUCH!!
Natalie and I had another debrief tonight. I think I am going to call them Nat Chats now. I will never tire of saying that I love my Nat Chats with Natalie. They are so good.
NAT CHAT WITH MATCHING PJ BOTTOMS
Tuesday 3/1:
I woke up to a bloody nose :( not fun.
Bloody nose :(
Morning class with Sestra Tuckett! We talked about grammar stuff and taught more lessons. This time we taught Brat McQuivey (the supervisor guy) about the importance of Jesus Christ's Atonement. I LOVE SEEING MY IMPROVEMENT WOOOOOO!!!!
One of the Russian sisters plays the harp so for personal study today we went and listened to her practice while reading in the scriptures. So so so so so so so beautiful. We sang in the choir again today! We sang Sweet Hour of Prayer. Devotional tonight was so cool and enlightening. Elder Weatherford Clayton and his wife spoke. At one point they asked for audience participation and I decided to send it and raise my hand. I answered the original question and was getting ready to sit down BUT THEN Elder Clayton asked me a follow up question. I was totally not prepared for that haha. My heart was racing a million miles per minute. I answered it without a problem or a voice crack but my nerves were going crazy. Keep in mind this is in a room full of hundreds of people. Smrt. haha.
Sestra Voigt and I have somehow gotten in the habit of saying smrt (Slovene for death) anytime anything minor inconveniences us. I hit my elbow against the table and my first reaction was not to express pain, it was to yell "smrt". I also learned the phrase "obij me" (ohbee may - it kind of reminds me of Obi Wan haha) which means "kill me". Our teachers are slightly concerned
My schedule - yes every single minute is scheduled out - SMRT
Random quote of the week:
"I don't think I remember what your normal voice sounds like" - Sister Barney
Highlights:
- Almost every single day Sestra Voigt and I are asked if we are sisters - NEARLY EVERY SINGLE DAY WHAT
Sestra Voigt and I are matching
- Our new German sisters that live with us are the funniest people alive
- I talked exclusively in an Australian/British/New Zealand/occasionally Southern accent with the German sisters
